Sunshine Sunday
Gorgeous day in Oklahoma. Hope you were out on two wheels enjoying it, as I was (that is until 3 pm when I had to dash home to watch motoGP!). Someone mentioned that they hadn't seen any photos of my Hypermotard in a while, so here are a few random shots from today. I had fun cruising backroads south and east of the city -- just wish we had a few more curves. It's rather difficult to learn to back it in motard-style when you only have one or two curves and Interstate ramps for practice. LOL.
In 27 years of riding motorcycles, this has to be the funnest bike I've ever owned, even if it serves no practical purpose whatsoever. Gas mileage is nothing to write home about (certainly not when you compare it to my Dakar, which regularly averages 62 mpg around town and will get even higher on trips). The range is laughable (reserve light typically comes on between 70 and 80 miles, and you'd better find a gas station within the next 25 or so!). Though I've acclimated to them, I still say the bar-end mirrors should have never been approved by DOT. But, oh my, the loft-the-front-end-with-ease torque of that 1100cc twin, the sound from those twin Termis, the turn-it-on-a-dime precision, the smooth throttle from Ducati's Racing ECU (gotta be the sweetest fuel injection I've ever had in my right hand), the sheer hooliganism ... I love this bike.
Hope your Sunday was as exhilarating as mine!
