News9 reports that a car made a u-turn in front of a motorcyclist in Edmond and threw a woman off the bike, who was then run over by another car. The accident happened at 2nd and Vista Lane. All four lanes of Edmond Road/2nd Street were closed down.
Each year the Edmond Police Department trains approximately 240 civilian riders on motorcycle safety skills. The course was developed by the Edmond PD and approved by the Department of Public Safety. The lesson plan is based upon skills used by the motorcycle officers and typically runs six hours long.
Classes are scheduled for April 20 in Edmond at the city’s regional fire training site, located at I-35 and Covell at Fire Station 5. It will be held May 11 in Ponca City, and plans are being finalized for a June 1 class in Stillwater.
NewsOK reports the Edmond Police Department is selling their Harley Davidson motorcycles and purchasing new BMW’s for patrol officers. The old motorcycles will be auctioned on-line.
