Phil Templeton

Phil Templeton was originally profiled in our very first Ride Oklahoma print edition, March 2007. Since then Phil has owned several bikes. His current dual sport machine is a tricked out KTM 690 Enduro.
“It will slow me down.”
Now is that any reason to buy a Harley? It is if you ask Phil Templeton of Oklahoma City. The long-time dirt bike rider and racer recently purchased his first Big-Twin, a 2006 Street Bob.
If he had wanted to go fast, Phil points out, he would have bought a Honda. And he knows a thing or two about fast. Whether on the trails at Draper or in the woods of eastern Oklahoma, Phil rides his KTM like a rocket. He recently reduced his racing schedule, but Phil is a seasoned veteran of the Black Jack Enduro Circuit. Now he rides dual sport events, cruises to bike night on his Harley (slowly, we assume), and travels to faraway places like Idaho, San Diego, and Daytona for Bike Week.
An incurable KTM fan, Phil hangs out at Ajax Kawasaki/KTM in south Oklahoma City to get his regular motorcycle fix. He has owned a variety of KTM models, from the 250 EXC to the 950 Adventure. He now rides a KTM 640 Adventure and a 450 EXC, preferring the light weight and agility of the 640 over the more portly, yet powerful 950.
Look for Phil on the tight single track of eastern Oklahoma or on his blacked-out Harley at Bike Night, and rest assured that he is always ready to hoist a beer and talk dirt or street. Bikes, that is.
Editor note: Phil now rides a KTM 690, KDX-200 and no telling what KTM dirt bike at the moment.
